Adelle Jensen recalls her June Lake Ahquabi camp experience at Indianola sponsored by the Ockdale Chapter. The program ran largely by youths with cabin councils, featured lectures from conservation workers, and films on animals, highlighting public awareness and leadership in natural resources.

Renwick Library Elects Officers At Meeting Tuesday

At the Renwick Public Library Board regular meeting on Tuesday June 25 officers were elected for the coming year. Mrs Robert Oppedahi was named president along with Mrs P H Sadler as secretary and Mrs Lloyd Jensen as secretary. Mrs R L Rossman Sr was chosen treasurer and Mrs Oppedahi was also elected senior vice president.

Lennon Sisters to headline Iowa State Fair revue

Des Moines reports the Lennon Sisters from the Lawrence Welk show will headline the fair's evening revue on four nights August 26 to 28. Dianne Pepper Kathy and Janet, ages 11 to 17, will perform songs such as Allegheny Moon and Graduation Date, singing by ear and arranging their own music. Officials are negotiating another TV star for the opening two nights August 23 and 24.

Quaker Oats Co of Renwick selected as one of fourteen businesses to train Iowa State College agriculture students. Richard Schnittjer of Eagle Grove will train at Quaker Oats from June through September earning college credit in Economics Law and reporting on his trainee duties under College and Curtese staff oversight.

Lt Donald Green Competes in All Army Matches at Fort Benning

Fort Benning Ga Lt Donald Green son of Mr and Mrs Milford M Green Renwick fired in the All Army Rifle and Pistol Matches. Green one of seven Army marksmen from U S and overseas installations in the week long event. He is executive officer in the 20th Infantry s Heavy Mortar Company stationed at Fort Robbe Canal Zone and entered the Army in 1985. He graduated from State University of Town in 1954. His wife Melva accompanies him in the Canal Zone.

The Renwick and Gilmore City Little League open on Monday July 1 with a parade led by the Quaker Oats Elegator and a 8 04 opening ball. Marty Schroeder, Renwick manager, will command only the Renwick team for the game as Miss Marilyn Paine sings and Mayor Paine throws the first pitch.

Fireworks Return to Izaak Walton Grounds Display

The Oakdale Chapter of the Izaak Walton League with Goldfield and Renwick Commercial Clubs fund a large July 4 fireworks show at the Izaak Walton League Grounds after dark. It resumes a year after Morse Lake and will be free with no hat passed. A concession stand operated by the Izaak Waltons will be present.

Son of Local People Finishes CBR Course With Army Reserves

Army Reserve Capt Jake W Bram son of Mr and Mrs Henry Bram of Renwick completed the chemical biological and radiological course while on two weeks of active duty at Port McClellan. He received instruction in combat and training techniques of CBR warfare and serves as assistant chemical officer in the 9th Infantry Division. He is an AOGMG graduate of Iowa State College and works for the Des Moines Register and Tribune as agency manager in Oskaloosa.
