A local Plymouth offering fast service and high satisfaction invites customers to place orders. The message promises prompt handling and courteous service as part of the purchasing experience.
Mr B C Selgelidl and son Purley visit Clarion with Meg while road conditions improve. A mix of visits, travel to Des Moines, funeral in Minden Nebraska, local outings, and sports trips to Buffalo Center and Verne dominate the week.
Plan outlines a Humboldt event with a Grand Pageant and Industrial Parade, $250 in prizes for best costumes, an orator Nate Kendall of Albia, daily band concerts, vaudeville, foot races, two Fair Grounds ball games featuring Gilmore City, Humboldt, and Bode, plus pony and auto races. Wrestling and boxing bouts with cash purses and bets. Free activities except 50¢ admission to the Fair Grounds in the afternoon.
A government issued instruction from the Division of Women’s Activities details a beef based meat dish to save money. It lists 2 pounds beef cut in serving sizes, 3 onions, lard, flour, salt, pepper, cloves and thyme, brown stock or water, meat extract, vinegar, and catsup. Brown onions in lard, brown meat, coat with flour mix, add stock and seasonings, cover and simmer until tender two hours for some cuts and twelve for others.
The Renwick town council held June 1 1920 at City Hall with Mayor Friday presiding and councilmen Schneider Rasmussen Gort tech Hemmig and Holt present. Minutes from May 4 were read and approved and the finance committee read and approved numerous bills including John Egenes Cy Drake M Bechtel Co Elmer Brayrn Smallwood Schneider Blesie Parking Co Bert Clements Chas Minor Henry Claussen Downing Electric Co and others totaling several dollars. The motion to pay all bills passed and the meeting adjourned with Clerk C F Flemmig noting adjournment.
The Vernon Township School Board will receive bids for hauling on routes 1 2 8 4 1 and 6 at their July meeting. Bids must be brought or mailed to the meeting. The board reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
