Weed Commissioners Assume Key Role Under New Law
Weed commissioners hold an important position under the new weed law enacted by the Mocty third General Assembly. Secretary of Agriculture MrG Whornburg will publish a bulletin detailing requirements and guidance for eradicating noxious weeds. Township trustees or town councils must appoint a weed commissioner, or the board of supervisors will appoint one of its members. The commissioner oversees weed destruction in his district under the board’s wage scale and orders. Landowners must destroy noxious weeds, or pay costs as a special tax if they fail.
