Death at St Maries mill claims Casper Marty
Casper Marty, a longtime St Maries resident and employee of the St Maelos MHF Company fuel house, died after being buried by shavings inside the building. Rescue efforts confirmed suffocation as the cause, with exact circumstances uncertain. Marty, born in Engi Switzerland in 1872, lived in the United States since 1889 and leaves a widow and five surviving children. Funeral services were held at the American Legion hall, conducted by the Eagles Aerie, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. He was a respected citizen and member of several local organizations.
