Harold G Wigans son of Mrs Jeanette Wigan of Bagla Grove joins the United States Navy. After initial enlistment at Kort recruiting station he went to Des Moines for final exams and to San Diego California for naval training preliminaries. He will compete for entry to a Navy trade school and previously finished Vernon Consolidated School in 1981 before working with the firm.
A. B. Richardson of Renwick marks fifty years of continuous service in the town setting up his store Richardson Co hardware at the same location. The milestone highlights his community leadership, religious and educational booster efforts, and close ties with residents across Renwick and surrounding areas.
A thief entered the Roy McCaury farm home late Monday or early Tuesday and stole fourteen quarts of canned goods. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Scott of Goldfield visited Sunday at Henry Geigal's parental home. McManigie and daughter from Minnesota visited the Geigal home and then went to Minnesota to vigil relatives. Weather turned rainy Tuesday night, the first rain since July 5. Stella Weisig and Mrs. Sehlecty, sister of Mrs. Beenen, visited the Wa. Wi Hen home and former school teachers noted.
Humboldt County has been granted a second shipment of free flour milled from federal wheat. The 1,000 sacks, in 260 barrels of four, will be sent to Humboldt about October 1 for Thanksgiving distribution among needy families during winter. The first shipment in June totaled 150 barrels and most towns report the aid met with demand, though some supply remains.
Jennings brothers launch a cash stock exchange in the Farmers Living Bank building Livermore to provide on the spot cash for farmers stock on sale day. Misa Margaret Jennings to handle office work. Marm ory Elevator may cooperate to extend cash on the spot for grain. The article also notes a Brazil revelation and a weekend visit by Mr and Mrs A D Gimer and family.
Bank directors and local merchants convened after ongoing withdrawals to adopt a waiver plan. Mayor Elmer declared a four day town holiday to solicit deposits with waivers allowing three year deposits at three percent interest. Volunteers planned to mobilize and sign waivers to prevent bank closure and reopen for the community.
The Goldfield bank holiday began Thursday July 14 and ended Friday July 22 as Mayor George Whyte proclaimed to let stockholders seek waivers from 150 depositors. A successful drive led most depositors to sign waivers, and the bank opened for regular banking on Saturday as local businesses resumed normal operations after the proclamation was modified.
Wm. Nissen sold his Rowan meat markets last week and has reopened at the old Renwick stand. He currently sells meat and milk with plans to add groceries later. Nissen formerly ran a Renwick meat market for years and recently acquired a Rowan shop. Friends expect him back in Renwick business soon.
Miss Helen Elmar returns home from Creston Nebraska after a week with relatives. Mr and Mrs J J Jones and children of Fatherville were visitors yesterday. We are informed they have put out their resting taint business there.
I B Paddock, state apiarist at Iowa State College Extension Service, notes bee anatomy and instinct are fixed but selective breeding can raise honey yield. He argues bees existed for pollination and honey production evolved for human use, and with better stock, equipment, and care, man can increase honey output and lower costs.
Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the Peter Ehrhardt farm home southwest of Hardy early Sunday morning. The family awoke to the blaze from a barking dog and escaped with little clothing. the house and contents were uninsured and the Ehrhardt family is staying with their sons nearby.
Agneag Bonin of Minneapolis and Wilford Jones son of Mr and Mrs A L Jones of Renwick were married Thursday evening July 14 at the bride's parents home in Minneapolis. Wayne Jones, brother of the groom, attended. Mr Jones a Vernon Consolidated high school graduate and three years in M and St L machine shops. Mrs Jones a Minneapolis high school graduate has visited the Renwick home and made friends here. The couple returned to Minneapolis for their home.
President Hoover, urged by Secretary Hue, extends the duck and waterfowl season from one to two months this fall. The period runs October 1 to November 30 across Michigan Wisconsin Minnesota Iowa Nebraska South Dakota North Dakota and Montana. The Methodist Women's Foreign Missionary Society met at Mrs Dean Nellis's home Tuesday with Mrs S H Wisedig Ny as assistant hostess and Mrs lw H Long leading.

St Pauls Lutheran Church announces Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. and English worship at 9:00 a.m. German service last Sunday monthly at 9:00 a.m. Luther League devotional first and third Sundays at 7:30 p.m. Ladies Aid meets first Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. You are welcome to our place of worship.
