A group of ladies gathered at the home of Mrs. M. M. Green four weeks ago on a Friday for a three person birthday surprise party held in her honor. A delicious lunch was served which the guests had contributed.
A roundup of social events includes a birthday party at Mrs. Raymond Gorrells honoring Mrs. Jeanette Darland and a August 4 Arvet Hall meeting with new member initiation. Mrs. Helmke led a canning demonstration and lunch at the TL N club gathering with twelve members. Youth fellowship at Baptist church enjoyed a watermelon roast and scavenger hunt in a park. The Renwick Woman's Club plans a July 28 picnic at Renwick Park. Birthday party honors for Jimmy Selgelig at Renwick Park. St Pauls Luther League met with Sarrel Block hosting. Vernon 4-H Club to meet July 23 at the Gilligan home to discuss The Big Fight Man vs Post.
The Evangelical United Brethren Youth Fellowsmyr met last Friday evening at the home of Marjorie Ann and Darlene Gagisburg. After the regular meeting, the hosts entertained with a weiner roast.
The T N aa ini Club will meet Friday afternoon July 28 at the home of Marjorie Long. All members are urged to bring their record books to this meet.
Boone Township residents hosted guests and relatives at multiple Sunday dinners. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Gillespie and Judy joined the Kirchgatier family. Walter Hemvs attended a Sunday Brat at the home of Mrs. Kreft. O A Overbaugh hosted Huntley Oliver and others for meals, while many neighbors visited Donanl Palmer and August Nae home. Rev E Custer and Mrs Custer called in the evening.
Glen Martin hauled cattle to Chicago on Sunday. The ET AW Club meets Thursday at Mrs James Yuogelas home with Mrs Verni McPeak leading. Numerous locals attended reunions and visited relatives across Eagle Grove Clarion and surrounding towns. Plans for Wright County Fair in August were discussed at a 4-H meeting in Clarion. Several families hosted visitors from Des Moines Kanawha LaVerne Mason City Red Oak and Lincoln Nebraska.
Mrs. Merch Maurer and daughter Cinthie of Pierson visited relatives here last week. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Green and son Donald spent Sunday at Algona with Mrs. Green’s mother, Mrs. Wilson. Grace Henry and Lewis Hol trop of Hawarden visited with their brother and his wife. J. and Mrs. Fred Bolimaya stayed at the J. Higgins home. Mr. and Mrs. Samson Flogstad and Marjorie Ann Gugisbury enjoyed a picnic at Clear Lake with Paul Flogstad and family from Mason City. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Tatene and family of Mason City were Sunday dinner guests at Michael Tatone’s home. Miss Ona Marie Engstrom and several others visited Lawn. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Stauffacher hosted a dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marso of San Francisco. Mrs. Laura Losee of Lake City and Mrs. Henry Norder visited the Norder homes in Marshalltown, with the Granners of Freeport joining them.
Vernon Township Consolidated School District board will meet August 8 1949 at Vernon School to hear taxpayers for the proposed expenditures for July 1949 to June 1950. A statement of receipts and disbursements past and anticipated will be available at the hearing. Lawrence M. Nielsen district secretary.
