Chautauqua Program Vlenases Pleases Community

The chautauqua program concluded Sunday night with broad community approval. Musical numbers impressed attendees while some acts fell short. Notables Rev W S Johnson Hon Has kiel H Dyer Dr David W Fletcher and Dr George L Barker were well received. Dr Barker led union services at the tent Sunday morning and Ray Newton the magician performed capably. The Travers Wick Symphonic Orchestra delivered an excellent Sunday night concert. It is unclear whether Renwick will host chautauqua again next year.

The Wild Rose Canning Club met on July 28 with Miss Amha Packard. Ten members and four visitors attended. Two new members joined, bringing total to twelve. Hostess provided refreshments. Next meeting set for July 12 with Miss Amy Carter.

Alleged Thief Detained by Sheriff in Renwick Case

Sheriff Davenport took Fred Kingman of Knox county Illinois into custody in Renwick on suspicion of stealing a diamond ring. Kingman denies the charge and is described as an Iowa resident who recently arrived in Renwick. The case is reported by Trumboldt Republican.
