Quilt and Rug Show Attracts Sixty Four Entries

A crowd at the artnigutly club event viewed thirty nine quilts and twenty five rugs judged by Mrs. I. Oostrich of Humboldt. The Patchwork Quilt Pageant featured a wedding scene with Mrs. RB McGowan and Mrs. Floyd Gane in period garb. Awards were given for quilt categories and over 14 dollars was raised for expenses.

Raiders Ride Sixth Straight Win Over Livermore

Raiders beat Livermore 16 to 14 in a hard fought game as Lynn Curler and Ferguson led with eight and six points respectively. Coach Cayou pulled Livermore’s first team late after a scoring drought. Renwick seconds earned revenge with a 16 to 14 victory, Maurer scoring seven.

Grand Humes Dies After Short Illness in Kanawha

Mrs. Josephine Humes aged 86 known as Grand Humes died after a brief illness at her daughter Mrs. Lorena Kearney's home in Kanawha on January 16. Born November 6, 1818 in Woodfield Ohio, she taught school before marriage to William Humes in 1866. They had six children, one surviving. She moved from Illinois to Iowa in 1914, later living near Renwick before settling in Kanawha. Funeral was at Kanawha Methodist Church with Rev Briggs officiating. burial in Corwitt Cemetery.

Truck-load of Cattle Ditched by Icy Road

Otto Raves of LaVerne lost control on icy highway 60 north of Fenwick Friday afternoon. The wagon overturned into a ditch, injuring one cattle animal briefly before revival. others escaped with minor damage and were driven to a nearby freezer yard.

A few weeks ago vestmaster Hornstetter placed his spectacles in an unrented box in the lobby to keep them handy. A member of the Hustler group pushed in the glass at the box door and removed the spectacles. Joe is feb back $26.

Mrs. Conrad Baumgardner Dies at LuVerne Home

Mrs. Conrad Baumgardner a longtime community pioneer died last Friday night at her LuVerne home after years of declining health. Survived by her husband two children Mrs Charles Swiger and Edward Klessie both living northwest of Renwick twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
