A crowd at the artnigutly club event viewed thirty nine quilts and twenty five rugs judged by Mrs. I. Oostrich of Humboldt. The Patchwork Quilt Pageant featured a wedding scene with Mrs. RB McGowan and Mrs. Floyd Gane in period garb. Awards were given for quilt categories and over 14 dollars was raised for expenses.

Grand Humes Dies After Short Illness in Kanawha
Mrs. Josephine Humes aged 86 known as Grand Humes died after a brief illness at her daughter Mrs. Lorena Kearney's home in Kanawha on January 16. Born November 6, 1818 in Woodfield Ohio, she taught school before marriage to William Humes in 1866. They had six children, one surviving. She moved from Illinois to Iowa in 1914, later living near Renwick before settling in Kanawha. Funeral was at Kanawha Methodist Church with Rev Briggs officiating. burial in Corwitt Cemetery.
