The Men's Community Club schedules a January 12 gathering at the Renwick school house with a 7 pm dinner and an 8 pm program. Patrolmen Dickinson of Humboldt County and Ludwig of Pocahontas County will speak, followed by films on save driving and several musical numbers.
Cynthia Kay Walkner infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Walkner Hardy died Saturday January 3 1953 at a Fort Dodge hospital born August 12 1952 she was four months and twenty one days old at death funeral services were held Monday at the Hardy Methodist church with the Rev Harrison G Dawes of Eagle Grove officiating interment was at Vernon cemetery Arrangements under the direction of Beenen Funeral Service Surviving are her parents one sister Lynda Diane paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Lloyd Wilkner of Hardy and maternal grandmother Mrs Chas A Williams of Engle Grove
Seven Renwick M Y F members traveled to Kanawha Methodist Church for a Sub-District Youth Rally. The evening included games, supper, worship led by Kanawha Youth Fellowship, and Rev Buckwalter spoke with slides on their West trip and missionary work. Chaperones MraRA Gorrell and Dr W H Long accompanied the group. Attendees included Marjorie Long, Mary Kleen, Diane Swan, Shirley Hanglan, Nan Latch, Jerry Gorrell, Ind Clair Swan.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet this Thursday evening at the Legion Hall in Okolck. The briefing plans include committee reports and upcoming community service events. Members are urged to attend to finalize arrangements and elect officers for the new term.

Mr and Mrs Richard Feltis welcome a seven pound seven ounce baby girl born Monday morning at Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge. Mr and Mrs Carl Martin announce a nine pound nine ounce baby boy born January 6 at St Joseph hospital in Sioux City.
Open house honored Mr and Mrs A H Krause on their 50th wedding anniversary at their Hardy Renwick farm home. They wed December 31 1902 and 1903 they moved from Peoria to the farm. About 140 guests attended including descendants from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The Ray Abbas Chevrolet Garage in Renwick held a formal opening with free coffee and doughnuts on Friday and Saturday January 9 and 16. The event showcased new 1953 Chevrolets, refreshed office and showroom, and upgraded mechanical facilities. Ray Abbas owns the business with Ed Elbert as parts man and salesman, John Pensfeld a mechanic, Henry Kepper the inspection man, and Jack Pohlman a used car repairman. The community offers congratulations on the new garage.

Evangelical church listings show a youth party on Friday evening with a painted scene under colored lights. Chevrolet announces the unveiling of the 1953 line at Ray Abbas Chevrolet Renwick with new engines, 108 horsepower base, enhanced transmission, larger bodies, and improved ride. Includes Bel Air two-tone models and four-door sedans.
The Renwick fire department answered three calls on Wednesday December 31 at Beenen Furniture. A burner in the office area of the store ignited fuel oil, fire confined to floor around the stove. Smoke and soot damaged merchandise while the fire was discovered by Mr Beenen who alerted the department.
The annual Little Nine basketball tournament will be held at Bode from January 13 to 17 with participation by Verron and Renwick high school teams. Organizers prepared pairings for next week’s paper.
Renwick boys and girls teams host Bode this Friday night in a home game. Both teams will also take part in the Little Nine tournament at Bode next week.
The March of Dimes campaign will run January 15 to 31 with house to house solicitation and school card distribution in Humboldt County. The goal is 7000 dollars with 50 percent of net receipts kept locally for patient care. 90 percent goes to the National Foundation for research and emergency needs. Local progress includes tests in Sioux City, Dallas, and other areas, aided by Foundation funds. Humboldt County reports a balance to retire and plans for chairmen names next week.
Vernon boys high school basketball hosts Livermore Friday night in a home game. The event is part of December schedules and notes upcoming Little Nite tournament with both boys and girls teams traveling.
The Drake University drama department presents George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion at Eagle Grove High School auditorium Monday night January 12 at eight o'clock. The Rotary Club of Eagle Grove sponsors the event. Tickets may be ordered at the Renwick Times office.
