Final Rites For James Milton Nelson Held At Baptist Church

Final rites for James Milton Nelson 69 were held at the Renwick Baptist Church followed by interment in Elmwood Lunt cemetery. Born August 16 1890 in Boone Township Iowa he married Orilla Nichols in 1917 and raised three sons. He served as Sunday school superintendent teacher and deacon and later farmed near Renwick and West Point Mississippi. He died December 28 1959 after years of ill health leaving his wife and three sons with seven grandchildren. three brothers and many friends.

Funeral services for Lucy Simpson 76 were held at Sherburn and Renwick Methodist churches. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery Renwick. She died December 26 1959 after a stroke at her daughter’s home. Survived by eight children twenty seven grandchildren thirteen great grandchildren four sisters and many relatives.

Fire Destroys Corn Drier on Krause Farm Near Renwick

Firefighters battled a portable corn drier fire at the Herman Krause farm northwest of Renwick Tuesday evening. Cold near zero temperatures hampered efforts but the fire was controlled and damage limited to the drier.

Harold Trask comes home New Year’s afternoon from Lu Thiéran hospital where he had been a patient since December 20. He plans to return to school Monday but his illness will limit his activities for some time.

Local Women Involved In Accident Sunday

A two car collision occurred at the Terry Mitchell intersection on Main Street Sunday morning. Mrs Jerry Krause traveled west while Mrs Adrian Rademaker went north crossing Main Street. Both cars sustained damage, with Mrs Rademaker’s vehicle most affected. no serious injuries, but passengers received minor bruises.

Death of Jake Figi Dee 30 at New Glarus

Word comes of the death of Jake Figi 55 of New Glarus Wik on December 30. He was a Renwick figure, brother of the late S Paul Figi and uncle of John Zimmerman. Services were in Swiss Church of Christ New Glarus. Survivors include John Zimmerman and John Hefti. Attendees from Renwick area included Duane McCurry and family, Rose Hefty, Anna Krause, William Hefti, Albert Hefti, Edwin Marty, LaVerne Hetty, Janey Hetty, Gilbert Hefti, Crystal Lake, and John Zimmerman. Funeral attendees also visited in Humboldt Burt Ames Ft Dodge and other nearby towns.
