Mrs Benedicts Niece Dies While Visiting Here in Belmond

Lydia Emma Betts Nowlin Betts, born 1871 Belmond Jamaica Street, died Sunday in Belmond hospital after illness while visiting Renwick. She married A B Nowlin in 1890 and lived near Humboldt. she later wed Homer Kohn in 1922. Services held at Belmond funeral home and later in Seward Nebraska with burial in Giltner. Her son Ray Nowlin traveled from Nebraska for the funeral duties.

Miss Stella Orvick and Talmai Heggen Married

Miss Stella Orvick daughter of Mr and Mrs Bevert Orvick and Talmai Heggen son of Mrs G T Heggen were married Saturday February 2 at St Johns Lutheran church in Des Moines Rev A D Beil officiated. Miss Bernette Heygen and Stanley Heegen attended. The bride is a Vernon high school 1920 graduate and has taught at Lake No 1 while the groom finished Kemwick high school in 1922 and works southwest of Henwick.

Mr and Mrs G A Stoddard observed their fifty-first wedding anniversary on Monday. Their children include two daughters and two sons: Mrs G C Barnes and Kathryn St Louis of Missouri, Mrs Will Biging of LaVerne, and George Jr of Rock Island Illinois. A year ago the family hosted an elaborate reception for their fiftieth anniversary. The Stoddards are regarded as longtime residents in the community.

Banks Pay Additional 10 Percent Dividend To Depositors

Bridge Club Attends Evening Event at Klassie Home

The I. B. Pridge club met Thursday at 7 o clock for dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Klassie. Mrs. L. W. Miller and William BeTeen won high scores. Wade Little and Jed Rasmussen couples took concealed numbers, and Mrs. T. R. Turner earned the traveling prize with assistance from Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Maurer.
