Renwick School Building Threatened by Fire

Early Wednesday morning a fire threatened the Renwick high school building with smoke filling several rooms. Janitor George McCurry found the blaze in a first floor room near the Superintendent’s office. fire crews and locals responded quickly, extinguishing the flames and limiting damage while investigators consider a short in an electric wiring as the likely cause.

Approaching Marriage Announced at Luncheon

Miss Leola Richardson and Mr Wilbur Nissen were announced at a three course luncheon hosted by Miss Dorothy Richardson at the Kerr home two miles east of Renwick. The event December 16 featured pink and white decor and candy Christ man trees. The couple plan to wed January 1 with out of town guests from Brilt Char Golifield Denhart.

Port Dodge Officers Help After Child Adventure

Five year old Pauline Kassie rode an elevator during a shopping trip with her mother in Port Dodge. After wandering onto the street she was invited to the police station where she was cared for until her mother Mrs S Klasaia arrived by phone and reclaimed her.

Barn Fire Destroys Mrs. Zweifel Property Near Renwick

A barn on the Mrs. John Zweifel farm near Renwick was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon. The blaze, discovered shortly before 4 PM, rapidly gutted the structure and its contents before help could arrive. Carl Werling helped mobilize the response, with the incident reported from three miles northwest of Renwick.

Birthday Club Christmas Festival At Mrs Claws Block Home

The Jolly Birthday club held a Christmas festival at Mrs Claws Block’s home last Thursday afternoon. Fifteen members sang carols, read an article on Christus in Foreign Lands, and ran two Christmas contests. Lavonne Ervin acted as gift bearer during the exchange. The group packed a box with toys clothing and a comforter for the orphans home at Conncil Aviffs. A covered dish luncheon followed.

The Methodist Ladies Aid society will gather at Mrs. Floyd Lane's home on Wednesday afternoon December 27. Mr and Mrs Harald Goettsch depart for Chariton to spend Christmas with Mrs Goettsch's relatives. Margin Norem was taken to Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge Saturday for an appendicitis operation and is reported to be recovering well.

Iowa Farm Bureau Meeting Forecasts 75 Cent Corn and Eight Dollar Hogs

Speaking before 200 farmers at the annual farm bureau meeting in Blumbofrlt last Monday, A1 gentine of Vinton predicted Iowa farmers would receive 75 cents for corn and 8.00 for hogs under the current administration. He urged farmers to support the farm bureau as resolutions extended thanks to President Roosevelt and Secretary Wallace.
