The assassin a Neapolitan identified as Michelle Angoni Ani claimed motive as revenge and said he acted for a vast anarchist conspiracy. Henry C. Rucker a negro recently appointed collector of internal revenue for the district of Georgia took the oath of office and assumed charge at Atlanta Thursday. Six white men in the department announced they would quit with the retiring collector, declining to serve unevansgro. They include deputy collectors at Atlanta and Blue Ridge, storekeepers and gaugers at Blue Ridge, Columbus, Canton and Jasper. The new collector selected A. J. Smith, a white man, now on Collector Trammel's staff, as chief deputy.
