Hardy School Pupils to Attend Renwick Arrangements Made
Hardy consolidated district districts pupils from fourth to eighth grade will attend Renwick High School while lower grades stay in the old Hardy bank building. High school pupils may choose any high school. Rural township schools will reopen with hired teachers to serve pupils outside the former Hardy district as the deadlock over building persists. An appeal to the state department of public instruction may occur after the coming year.

Humboldt county Old Age Assistance tax totals and aims
Humboldt county residents paid 4490 per capita tax in 1936 for Old Age Assistance while recipients have received 9115 so far this year. The federal Social Security board supplements with a plan to match pension dollars. 29,584 Iowans are receiving monthly warrants averaging 314.63 per person. If every state resident paid the tax, 2,948,760 would be collected yearly, plus state 1,600,000 and federal funds, totaling about 7,297,520. The commission would aim to cover about 41,500 people at 14.62 monthly, an increase of around 12,000.

Coroner's jury finds unavoidable collision killed woman
A coroner's jury at Algona recently returned a verdict that the death occurred in an unavoidable accident from the collision of two cars. One car sideswiped the other, sending it into a ditch and pinning the woman beneath. The verdict raises questions about the evidence and blame in a state that requires car control at all times.

Republicans face complex path to govern under possible sweep
If Republicans win in 1936 they could capture the governor’s office and House majority, but even a full victory in contested seats leaves Democrats with a two vote edge in the Senate. Of 34 Senate seats up, 13 are in the South where the Democratic primary is tantamount to election, making a Senate majority unlikely.

Weather during the same period cut production by roughly 25 percent, with costs of brain power ignored.
