A humorous column notes best man jokes at weddings and mocks failed political promises. It jokes about unemployment relief via bait-digging projects supervised by WPA. It observes bachelor cynicism, aging jokes, and comments on local women’s looks while quipping about tax reduction slogans.
Mary Abrenkiel Bonwell of Renwick died April 26 1936 at age 44 after years of illness. She married Harry Bonwell in 1914, lived in Goodell and Klemme before moving to Renwick in 1917, and was active in the Evangelical church and Royal Neighbors. Funeral at Evangelical church followed by burial at Goodell. she leaves husband Harry and two sons, Duane and Alan, plus her mother Mrs George Ahrenkiel and brother Anton Ahrenkiel.
Commencement exercises for Renwick high school seniors will be held Thursday evening May 28 in the high school auditorium. The class numbered twenty two includes Violet Broberg Marjorie Wilson Alen Bonwell Genevieve Larson Charlene Nelson Dale Peterson Ruby McPeak Paul Oppedahl Calvin Haas John Flemmig Dorothy Hanson Thomas Goettsch Darlene Zantner Grace Long Velma Luchsinger Duane McCurry Lucy Kelling Edith Steffa Dolores Blesie Stanley McCurry Jeanette Clowes Marion Blassie. The class motto is Out of the harbor oft on the deep with yellow rose dower and walnut and gold colors. Class officers are Dale Peterson president Alan Bonwell vice president Jay Kelling secretary and treasurer. Miss Ethel Lindsey is principal and M. Kirk Sperry is superintendent.
Curtis Rockwood came home from Iowa City for the weekend. Mrs Dave Crawford and daughter from Estherville visited the Lee Norder home. Mr and Mrs A D Gimner and daughter Thelma visited Wellsburg and Abbott. The office displays a European starling carcass inviting exhibition at schools or farmer gatherings. Doris Bram, a nurse in training, is home from Lutheran hospital Des Moines for three weeks of vacation and awaits state board exam to become a registered nurse.
Alma Geigel Scott born Renwick Iowa May 15 1897 died Fort Dodge Iowa April 21 1936 at 38.11.6. She married Charlee Harold Scott September 20 1916. They lived through north central Iowa then Goldfield. She was organist in Presbyterian church at Goldfield and active in church and community work. Funeral Thursday in Goldfield Presbyterian Church with Rev. McCracken and Rev. Sohl assisting. Interment LaVerne cemetery. Relatives and friends from many towns attended.

Boosters club votes for two day Fall Festival on September 6 and 7 after abandoning July 4 celebration plans.

A thrilling temperance drama depicts a tether who kills his wife under influence of Kauer and is pursued by a returned soldier caught in propaganda and liquor sales. Cast includes Judge Forsythe State's Attorney Edwin Blesie Defense Attorney Homer Thiel Sheriff S. C. Meurer Tom Hamlin Fingerprint Expert and a jury, with Barbara Jane Britt as Dorothy Jones daughter of the prisoner.
Mrs Myra Agard aged 77 born in Fennimore Wisconsin died at her daughter Mrs Walter Phipps home in Renwick Iowa on April 19 1936 She moved to Iowa at age nine husband George 4H Agard married July 4 1878 They lived in Goldfield Iowa until ill health She leaves ten children thirty two grandchildren and six great grandchildren Burial was in Goldfield cemetery The article notes relatives from Klemme visiting last Sunday

The petition for dissolving the Consolidated School District of Hardy in Humboldt County Iowa was approved after a hearing on April 27 1936. The county superintendent of schools found the petition in due form with sufficient voters and notices. jurisdiction is retained to call the dissolution election. The order appears in the Renwick Times.
