Iowa residents may apply for the 1970 fall tuition grant based on financial need. January 19 1970 is the mailing deadline to the Higher Education Facilities Commission. The program assists private college attendance by reducing private tuition costs and fosters use of private facilities.

Anderson Promoted to Second Class Damage Controlman
James M. Anderson of Renwick was promoted to Second Class Damage Controlman in ceremonies aboard the USS Fechteler on December 16 1969. He has served aboard since March 1968 and will depart with the ship for Vietnam coastal waters January 5. The Fechteler has had four Vietnam tours. duties include firefighting and countermeasures for nuclear and chemical attacks. Anderson becomes Leading Petty Officer and Shop Supervisor.

Francis Heety Wins Prize in Essay Contest
