Senator Beveridge, previously slated to speak in Reno tomorrow night, has a breakdown and will not appear until Saturday evening. He will attend with other prominent speakers at Aetna rink, rest at Lake Tahoe, then travel by Senator Nixon's car to Reno Saturday afternoon for a full address on the day’s key issues.
A thief entered a Second Street store owned by Mrs Roberts last night and carried away fur valued at several hundred dollars. Four valuable mink automobe muff s and other items were taken from front windows and a glass showcase, with two small furs left behind. Police pursue the thiefs amid prior robberies at the same shop. officers believe the crime was planned and are tightening search in the business district.
Reno police report arresting B. M. Bouseman on a telegram from Truckee officers. He is jailed awaiting extradition clearance from Constable Stumpf. The charge is unclear but believed to be petty crime. Truckee will handle extradition.
In Ebrumont Texas on the night of the 7th fire destroyed the Southern Pacific roundhouse and the master’s office. Nine engines were consumed and the loss is reported at $200,000.
New York reports the Cubs beat the Giants 4-2 in a decisive game marked by a late seventh inning surge. Mathewson faltered in the third, Wiltse failed to stem the rally, and Chicago's superb defense especially at second base sealed the win amid a packed, noisy crowd.
Virginia Harned Sothern seeks a divorce from Edward Sothern in Washoe County Nevada court. Judge Pike refuses to grant the decree now, will take the matter under advisement, and may allow a decree if Mrs Sothern appears in court, while noting the case is a unique proceeding and warning against airing private matters.
Republican nominees Flanigan and Brown drew large crowds at an open meeting in Wells, with bands and cheers, signaling strong support in a Democratic stronghold. Speakers attacked the Newlands machine, praised Nevada’s progress, and predicted big majorities as Brown and Flanigan campaigned across town.
Lt. W R B Smedberg and Henry Laundry, both off icers in the United States Army, with Dr. R B Corcoran, a veterinary surgeon, arrived in Reno from northern California and Nevada to select horses for military use. The animals are being loaded in Reno and will be shipped to the Presidio in San Francisco. Dr. Corcoran, who vetted horses sent to the Philippine Islands, is regarded as a top judge of horses on the coast.
