Golden Taken 10 Sparks for Bearing

Grover Golden, arrested earlier for passing worthless checks in Reno and Sparks, was moved to Sparks this morning for a preliminary examination before Judge Pollock. He was arrested two weeks ago in a Sparks rooming house and jailed. he faces related charges. Yerington lacks lights and power after two large Truckee River General Electric transformers burned Saturday afternoon. The county commissioners, in session as a board of equalization, will wrap up this afternoon with numerous property valuation adjustments.

Two Convicts Spotted Then Disguised as Prospectors

Nevada State Police traced escapees Willi Lane and William Davis from Nevada Penitentiary into the mountains from Virginia City to Empire. Photographs and descriptions were circulated. Davis was reportedly seen in Reno but locals did not report it, allowing him to slip away. Officers believe a pair of men posing as prospectors aided the escape by misdirecting the pursuit.
