In Paris court rooms crowded as Count Bons presses a suit against Princess Anna 15. The proceedings reveal a public and personal scandal with demonstrations by artists and supporters, highlighting alleged separations and consultations between princes and nobles.
The court instructed the jury that if evidence showed Lamphere set fire to the Gun nesw Rouse and any death occurred as a result, he must be found guilty of murder or manslaughter. Prosecution argued for a broad instruction linking arson to any fatalities.
Mrs Anna A Robertson today answered her husband James Robertson's divorce complaint admitting all material allegations. The suit claims the wife has refused to live with him since 1897. The couple were married at Lambertville Minnesota in 19.
Mrs Carrie Roberts Warren dies from shock after a runaway accident near Yerlington. Her husband, Mr Roberts, aided by bystanders, rushed to her home where she later died. The Haglian minister General Lecomte led detachment forces to Jeremie and executed Captain Oste Ma for treason after capturing him. He then ordered two citizens executed and faced armed resistance from Jeremie residents. Lecomte was captured and killed by an ambush, while General Tancicde Auguste was named minister of the interior as the revolution advances.
New York reports a Madison Square Garden marathon between American John J Hayes, Olympic winner, and Italian Dorande Pletz of Carpi. The Ital ian entry Dancit driven by William Hubard of Boston won the first international light auto race in the United States. The event featured 20 cars across a 25.4 mile course set on a long three-day event, with average speeds around 52 miles per hour and a total of 20 laps to cover 99 miles. Burman in Buick finished second, Lernne in Chalmers third, and Hearne in Buick fourth amid foggy conditions and strict security along the Vanderbilt course.
Evans, a former Reno man, transported from Rock Springs Wyoming, faces a preliminary examination before Judge Fell in the justice court on a charge of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Nearly 200 aboard the Ellerman line steamer Sardania perished when the ship, sailing from Liverpool to Alexandria, caught fire off Grand Harbour Malta. A gale hampered rescue as passengers and crew crowded the decks in panic. Up to 3 PM, 50 bodies were landed. many victims were Lovanians Maltese and Egyptians, with tents pitched on deck during the voyage. Continued on Page Two.
