River steamer sinks after snag on Tennessee River
A telegraph from Chester reports the City of Paducah, operated by Tennessee River Packet Co, struck a snag near Crow Brunkhern landing and sank within minutes. Reports say two passengers and several crew were drowned though some dispatches vary. The vessel, valued at 15000 dollars and heavily insured, carried about 35 persons and cargo as salvage work continues upriver.
