County Jail Escape Through Basement Hole By Trusties
Two prisoners escaped the county jail last night by removing boulders used to block a basement hole created for steam heating. Trusties working in the cellar removed the rocks, crawled through the aperture, and sealed the high outer wall to finish the escape. Mitchell, a federal prisoner from Mint Michigan, and barber, with a drug addiction, were in the jail as of midnight. Their terms would expire in 1920 and 1910, respectively.
