Train wreck in Texas leaves many dead and missing
Southern Pacific tourist train derailed and burned near Maxon and Sanderson in El Paso Division. Nine coaches and a baggage car burned. at least fifteen bodies reported, some identified, passengers including New York capitalists and postal clerks injured. Rescue efforts frantic as passengers trapped, Pullman and sleeping cars saved. conductor Stockwell walked seven miles to alert a telegraph office. The remote site, two hundred miles east of El Paso, saw dawn break after the accident.

Five victims of the Catabury mine fire were recovered shortly after midnight from the main entrance. Inspector Henry Louttit said the bodies were blackened and bruised with little trace of gas. He did not test most areas and warned the mine not yet declared safe.

In Memoriam Henry Philip Kraus Reno history maker dies
Henry Philip Kraus died yesterday in his Reno apartment at the Investment building corner of Second and Sierra streets. Born June 6 1841 in Louisiana to German parents he moved to Carson City in the 1860s and worked as a station clerk postmaster and later cashier for the railroad era. He served as Reno postmaster under the Harrison administration and was a longtime Mason and officer in local chapters and Scottish Rite bodies. His funeral is planned Sunday at the Masonic Temple under Reno Lodge No 13 F and AM.

Brutal murder and robbery in Saxonburg Pa
Three masked men broke into the home of Henry Smith a wealthy retired farmer at Saxonburg Pennsylvania and brutally murdered him while torturing Mrs Smith. The killers ransacked the house stole $200 and damaged property. A large crowd pursues them and they have been traced to Freeport. The deceased was over seventy years old. A new Spencer led Nevada Flaning Mill plans to build a modern plant opposite Flanigan warehouse employing twenty five to thirty men.
