Free State forces capture the Four Courts in Dublin after a pre surrender explosion. About 130 irregulars surrender with a priest at the head of the column as fights leave many killed or wounded. Eamon De Valera reportedly on active service.
Secret service officials described a federal agent posing as a broker's employee exchanging stolen Liberty bonds for other securities. Five men were arrested in Los Angeles for a mail truck robbery and thefts from a Pa bank. The group faces charges for possessing altered or stolen bonds.
Foreign exchange firm reports Great Britain demand 4.4254 with cables 4.425, 60 day bills on banks at 4.464. France demand stands at 4.42 and 4.42 percent on enables. Italy demand 4.72 with cables 4.7345.
Dublin reports Rory O’Connor commander of the republican army insurgents surrendered the Four Courts building to Free State forces and was taken prisoner. Free State troops attacked irregulars’ strongholds in Letterkenny and other centers in Donegal and the southern Dublin suburb of Rathmines.
Dublin reports say the Four Courts building, held by insurgent Rory OConnor, was captured by Free State troops after a fire and explosion. OConnor’s fate remained uncertain, with conflicting dispatches on his capture or death. Moscow was rumored to aid the insurgents as the siege marked a major phase in Dublin’s unrest.
The Russian representatives at the conference in The Hague on Russian affairs asked for credits totaling 8 224 000 000 gold rubles to fund transport, agriculture, industries, commerce and banks.

In Los Angeles Judge J. Perry Wood declares the Grinnell Hawaiian stamps forgeries and the federal government seizes them. J A Klemann of New York sued for 65 000 paid for the 42 stamps from George H Grinnell of Los Angeles claiming they would be worth 200 000 if genuine. Grinnell testified he obtained them from a man whose mother was a missionary in Hawaii in the 19th century.

An elderly, hungry unknown woman was found at the Southern Pacific depot in Oak and San Francisco and brought to Travelers Aid. Her basket held about $2000 in cash, including several bags of nickels, plus papers identifying her as Elisabeth MecGrue of Mitchel Indiana. The First National Bank of Mitchel was notified of her condition.
Charles W. Morse and Rupert M. Much, under indictment for conspiracy to defraud the government on Shipping Board contracts, were discharged from custody on a technicality in the complaint. They were almost immediately rearrested by Deputy Marshal Gilber A. Brown in Portland on June 30.
