Carlin Shops to be Rebuilt by Southern Pacific

Railroad men in Carlin say the Southern Pacific Company will rebuild the roundhouse and shops and install a large electric lighting plant. Little repair work is now done in the shops, but the roundhouse force remains busy. The report is not officially confirmed but widely believed among railroad insiders.

King Edward’s Celebration Postponed by Rain in London

King Edward’s birthday events were largely postponed due to inclement weather. The Seventh Regiment of the New York State Guard marched to Buckingham Palace and met the king in the throne room with Ambassador Reid and Major J B Beacom present. Naval and military reviews were deferred as ships and guns remained quiet.

Chicago and St Paul automobile tour to span 500 miles began with a gala procession down Michigan Avenue. The event drew a large, parade like crowd as Affy machines led the convoy decorated with pennants. German Navy to Replace Old Battleships with Modern Vessels

Berlin dispatch notes the German naval league calls thirty eight battleships ships in the fleet old boxes unfit for harbor defense only ten near modern standards and the rest require replacement. A corvette Hansa built 1872 is up for sale in Kiel while new ships are sought to modernize the fleet.

Remarkable airship flight lands on ten story building

A. R. Knobenschue sailed three miles in ideal weather to land atop a ten story office building in twenty five minutes, then returned to the depot in fifteen minutes. Spectators blocked streets as the daring navigator praised his ship and claimed a new aerial navigation solution.

Burglary Hits Parker Home in Sparks Lincoln Park

The Parker residence in Sparks Lincoln Park tract was burglarized last night while the family stayed in Reno. The thief entered via the back door and stole multiple items including an irrobeum freezer and a roll of butter. A rew setting on thirteen eggs was left behind, and the CPEs were not taken.
