Warsaw reports indicate Lodz workers returning to factory work with about 700 of 60 000 still out across 22 plants. Martial law remains, streets patrolled and Hudor shops closed as nationwide strike condemnation quiets tensions. A Warsaw stock market update warned mobilization in Russian Poland has begun and could reach Warsaw within two days, stirring fears of disturbances.
News from Tambov province reports M. Bezobrazott, president of the Yalu Timber Company, under military protection on his Tam bott estate as peasants threaten dire vengeance over his wartime role. The risk to his life follows widespread responsibility for the war.
Tokyo dispatch reports General Linevitch uses a narrow front instead of extended flanks. European Russian reinforcements barely cover Mukden defeat. Spies from Linevitch’s army are being arrested daily by the Japanese amid reports of dysentery in Harbin and deportations of the ill.
Reports from Washington and St. Petersburg say mutiny aboard the Russian battleship Kniaz Potemkin and a torpedo boat led to the murder of officers and threats to bombard Odessa. The Black Sea fleet is said to be under tense conditions as agrarian disturbances draw crowds and street clashes form around Odessa. The Potemkin, a 12000-ton armored turret ship built in 1902, carries 636 crew and a mix of large caliber guns.
The Messagero reports the pope may visit Monte Cassino if he leaves the Vatican during hot weather. He would stay with Rev. Father Boniface Krug at the Benedictine abbey, a favor tied to Krug’s Monte Cassino ties. The pontiff previously promised to visit Monte Cassino after the conclave but could not.
In Portland on June 28 two visitors from Jefferson Oregon Mrs R F Meyers and Mrs William Jones were found dead in their apartments at 256 Eleventh Street. Authorities believe a small gas jet was left burning and the air rush smothered the flame releasing deadly gas that suffocated them.
Police busy with grafters setting up booths and devices without licenses. Citizens warned to obtain permits or face arrest before sunset.

It claims Britain seeks to pit competitors for profit, push France toward Morocco enterprise, and weaken Germany by aiding France in war. It predicts Premier Rouvier could foil British plans and settle the Moorish issue.
Tokyo June 28 A Progressive party manifesto mirrors the constitutionalists resolution with added points. It calls for forbidding Russia to raise works for warlike use where Japan’s interests lie, compelling relinquishment of privileges in Manicuria, and Russia to pledge not to threaten peace or Chinese frontiers.

A hobo grabs a traveler's hat as the flyer pulls out. the traveler retrieves his hat and escapes.
In Jefferson City on June 28 the supreme court denied a writ of prohibition against Judge McElhinney of the St. Louis county circuit court. He will hear cases of persons arrested at Delmar track on charges under the anti betting law. The court upheld the constitutionality of the law.
Cambridge Mass June 28 The second day of President Roosevelts Harvard visit featured a varied program for the 1880 class anniversary. He delivered the principal address at the alumni dinner and took part in private festivities. The procession formed before Massachusetts Hall with Lt Gov Guild escorting the party. Taft Long Bonaparte and Long joined the march to Sanders Theater as crowds cheered through the streets.
Detroit on June 23 reports an effort to form an International Association of Professional Ball Players of America linked to the American Federation of Labor. Letters from Herman Robertson say Canada and U S stars would join and AFL funds would cover organizing costs.
Knight Templars of De Witt Clinton Commandery No 1 are summoned to meet at Magonic Temple at 2 PM to serve as escort to the committee laying the corner stone of the new Sparks schoolhouse. Members must wear uniforms under J B M Culighs order.
