Washington June 27 The House Judiciary Committee approved President Truman's recommendation to place the Speaker of the House next in line for the presidency after the vice president by a 10 to 9 vote in executive session. The bill, authored by Rep. Sumners, provides that the speaker would succeed if both the president and vice president are unable to serve, with provisions for turnover and interim leadership as needed. Rep. Army May Cut Discharge Score
Washington June 27 Capitol Hill expects the army soon to cut the present 85 point score required for discharge to either no or 7B. The final decision will be made on the basis of reports from field commanders. House military members say the new critical score will not change the weighting of points in the tentative program. A man still will receive one point for each month of service one additional point for each month of foreign service five points for each battle and twelve points for each child not in excess of three. No points are allowed for service after May 12.

Michael Reilly of Anaconda Montana former White House detail chief was commissioned a junior grade Navy lieutenant yesterday. A tenth agent failed to pass the army physical test. No official explanation for the transfer is given though the 27 guard group has been reduced as Truman’s family is smaller than Roosevelt’s.
