Redding California June 27 0 5 Sonne J Pimenthal and J A McDonald Felson prison convicts who escaped from the Vig Lar raid camp on June 18 and were captured later broke in at Weaverville Trinity county last night according to word received today by the sheriff s office here They are believed to have stolen an automobile belonging to County Clerk R L Carter of Trinity county A posse formed here to help hunt the men Sonne was sent up from Lassen county for five years on a bad check charge Pineal was committed from La county for twelve McDonald was also sent up from Los Angeles county serving a five year term for burglary Sonne formerly a resident of Reno and in trouble here for passing worthless checks.
Frank R. Belvin, former state railroad commissioner, will direct a campaign to uphold the Supreme Court ruling separating the Southern Pacific and Central Pacific systems. The action follows Union Pacific objections and old railroad rivalries entering new territory as the Central Pacific’s control shifts. Belvin’s statement says competitors fear loss of territory and faces a long fight in the courts.
