Last Friday in Łódź saw a citywide outbreak described as a Day of Terror as clashes between Social Democrats, Jewish groups, and Russian troops left thousands dead or wounded. Culprit Not Yet Found at Lake Shore Wreck Scene
Springfield June 24 Chief Inspector W C Jackson of Ohio railroads and telegraphs returned from Mentor after probing the Lake Shore wreck. He said the switch was opened intentionally but could not confirm if it was locked open. The perpetrator may never be known as both company and department pursue the case. He added speed did not cause the wreck and most deaths occurred as workers had just finished dinner and moved to the smoker. He noted fast trains are not more liable to accidents than others.

Major creditor is F Steiner, with about 4700 owed. Sparks merchants fear wider hardship after the failure and related credit tightening.

Refused a New Trial Loomis on a Secret Mission

Ophir Fire Destroys Town Near Auburn
Fire swept Ophir three miles from Auburn burning the telephone office and several frame structures. The blaze began about 3% o'clock this morning in Lutz's saloon, destroying Otto Walter's saloon Taylor and Knott's store which housed the post office and other shops Binninger's hotel and several residences were burned with many logs damaged or uninsured The incident followed by note of a marriage license for Samuel Knott of Boulder Colorado to Anna Armstrong of Denver.
