Knights of Pythias Grand Chancellor Visits Amity Lodge

Grand Chancellor Zeno Barnes of the Knights of Pythias and his wife plan an official visit to Amity lodge in Reno next Tuesday night. A short program with addresses and musical selections will precede a trip by automobile to Moana Springs for events in his honor. He will also visit Pyramid lodge in Sparks Monday and Myrtle lodge in Verdi Wednesday.

Trout Planting Set for Truckee River in Nevada

The Nevada State Fish Commission will plant 10,000 fingerling rainbow trout next Thursday at 10:30 AM along the Truckee River near the Virginia Street bridge under James H. Vogt. This marks the first fingerling planting experiment in Nevada, with 109,000 fingerlings in the river and hatchery staff welcoming visitors to the hatchery event.

Smen Arrested for Alleged Horse Stealing

Special to the Gazette Winnemucca June 23 Sheriff Lamb received a telegram from Maiheur Oregon saying he recovered nineteen head of horses with brands worked over from three men suspected of stealing from Quinn River valley. The men, Dick James Elmer James and Mack McKenzie, are held by the sheriff. Lamb believes the horses were stolen from Elko county and notes a prior report from Sheriff Harris about missing horses.

Navy Jackies Await Muster for Afternoon Ashore

Special Correspondence reports Atlantic Fleet Jackies, mostly under twenty, gathering for liberty aboard battleships and cruisers. They line for inspection in white uniforms and cropped hair, then flood the athletic field for canteen, watermelons, horse rides, target practice, and a double-header between fleet baseball teams in a spirited naval recreation.

Red Cross Sunday Declared by Nevada Governor

Governor Emmet D. Boyle issues a proclamation designating Sunday June 24, 1917 as Red Cross Sunday. He urges Nevada churches to urge congregations to contribute to the Red Cross fund and provide collection means. Winnemucca couple wed in university town setting

Four Winnemucca residents recently married in a ceremony described as set in a university town. Cloud, a collector for the Winnemucca Water and Light Co, wed a bride who had just graduated from the University of California. Bridesmaids and family join in celebrating the union as the couple plans to reside in National, with guides noting the groom as a superintendent at National Mines Co and the bride hailing from Missoula, Montana.

Farm Tractor Merges Walking and Wheel Locomotion

Louis M. Gardiner, an Oakland inventor, has created a farm tractor that combines walking and wheel locomotion. He has attracted Reno and Fallon investors to manufacture and market the machine, with a company formed to build experimental tractors led by Thomas Woodhil Jr as president and J. C. as an early organizer.

Bull's Head Breakfast at Lake Tahoe Event Preview

Tomorrow marks the Bull's Head Breakfast at Lake Tahoe with boating fishing and sports. The Southern Pacific runs a four coach train from Reno at 6:00 a m offering 25 cent passenger space and returns Reno in the evening. A Sunday steam train will operate all summer as motor cars cannot handle Sunday travel with a Reno to Tahoe round trip of 2.45 dollars.
