German and Austro-Hungarian forces repelled Russian advances in northeastern Bukowina and driven back a hostile column from Buczacz. The Austrian official statement reports 1300 Russians captured and notes continued heavy rear-guard fighting as Italians were repulsed on the Dolomites front between the Brenta and Adige.
Pittsburg June 13 Rich wie C Ferguson aged 80 one survivor of the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balakinva died. He was wounded seven times during the charge and passed away at his home in Achuesport.
Crowds gathered in rain around St Pauls for King George Mary and Dowager Queen Alexandra at Kiel Starshal Marl Kitchener memorial. The service featured the Royal Engineers band and drummers, no military guard, with three services held including Westminster Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral.

U S cavalry under Capt Otto W Rethorst routed a large Villa band 20 miles north of Santa Clara Chihuahua at daybreak June 9. Twenty bandits killed or captured. Americans suffered minor injuries. The force, linked to Cervantes, broke after a four hour pursuit through canyon and high ground.
The American Medical Association formally opened its seventh annual convention in Detroit with thousands of physicians and surgeons from around the world in attendance. Dr. Albert Vanderveer of Albany New Jersey presided at the opening meeting.
Waukegan June 13 Josephine Davis a friend of Marion Lambert testified again in the Orpet murder case. She admitted she lied at the coroner s inquest and grand jury saying she had written letters and statements. She said Marion asked her to have Orpet send communications to the witness and she wrote the letter. She also said she and Orpet are no longer on friendly terms.
William J. Bryan declares time ripe for Democrats to win most of the Progressive vote. He links a new pact between Democrats and Progressives to draw Bull Moose support for the fall ticket, saying Progressives are closest to Democratic aims after Chicago. He proposes drafting a platform aligned with Progressive views.
Paris reports a renewed Verdun battle with unusual violence on the Meuse east bank after Fort Vaux. German forces moved fresh troops, reformed lines, and pounded French defenses from Tavannes and Fort Couvitte as trench lines endured a day of ferocious attacks.
