Dr Frederick Lister Burk longtime educator and president of the state normal school in San Francisco since 1899 died at Stanford University hospital after an extended illness. He served on the California state board of education from 1900 to 1912 and led the California State Teachers Association. He was born in 1862 in Blenheim Canada and married Caroline Frear in 1888. Survived by his widow and four sons Frear Dean Nerval and Boss Burk.
