Seniors Entertained At Virginia City and Reno

Virginia City and Reno high school seniors were honored at a party hosted by Mrs T C Clifford aided by Mrs B Frank Shrimpton of Dallas and Miss Genevieve Shrimpton. Guests included seniors from both cities with elaborately decorated rooms and a reception. The event preceded a later gathering at the university gym and a Reno Grand theatre visit, followed by a home reception. A separate Norfolk report notes Missouri presenting a silver bell to the battleship Missouri at Hampton Roads.

Duncan Fined Ten Dollars for Attack on Mother-In-Law

Har old J Duncan, a Verdi druggist, was fined ten dollars for striking his mother in law Mrs Ann Murphy. He plans to appeal to the district court with Curter and King as his attorneys. A native Indian girl testified that he pushed Mrs Murphy causing her to fall.

Chicago reports progress toward settlement as teamsters signaled willingness to meet a committee appointed by department store proprietors. Wheeler Vagrancy Case Test Powers of City

Change Lodge Hall into Offices at Investment Building

Plans for New Bridge Across River on Virginia Street

Three bridge engineers submitted concrete and concrete with steel designs for the Virginia Street crossing. San Francisco Bridge Co. proposes a one arch and a two arch option, with the one arch favored for durability and beauty. Engineers Leonard and Kirk offer two arch designs in concrete reinforced with steel and concrete with blocks. The board will review plans and call for bids to finish by October 1.

Judgment in famous case nets nine hundred dollars in fees

Judgments in the Clough versus Thoma and Bigelow suit were issued in district court this morning. Reno Mill & Timber Co. awarded 9460.04 plus 400 dollars in attorneys’ fees. Nevada Hardware and Supply Co. awarded 1406.46 plus 150 dollars in attorneys’ fees. Savage awarded 2490 with 3200 in fees. Holmes awarded 1264 with 150 in fees. The Holland claim to be decided next Saturday.
