Requiem Mass for Jean W. Mackay Held in London

A requiem mass for Jean W. Mackay was held at St Mary’s Church Cadogan Square London with American and English family friends present. Attendees included Clarence Mackay Princess Colonna Rita Hungerford and Mrs Mackay’s relatives. The service was for the dead with a choir of twenty and flowers in the chancel. Mackay’s body will depart for America in September or October.

Boston Wool Market Strong and Advancing

The wool market: prices generally rising across wool growing districts with the July 29 report noting firmer conditions and higher quotes. Food Clips fetched up to 16 3-4 cents, about three cents higher than a year ago, and Montana wools are expected to rise once the full clip is sold as manufacturers cover old stock and buy new wool to extend supply.

Saloon Keeper Held Responsible for Patron’s Death

U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholds Nebraska federal court ruling that a saloonkeeper may be liable for a patron’s death if an accident results from the patron’s drunken condition. The suit by the widow and daughter of C S Walker names John Moser and others of Ashland Nebraska over Charles Walker’s February 9 1800 intoxication leading to a buggy crash and fatality.

Gazette Route Changes Hands to Leavitt and Palmer

The Gazette says the town circulation will be handled by Eigar Leavitt and George E. Palmer two young rustlers who will devote their time to the paper. They will deliver papers themselves and ensure subscribers receive them promptly. Mr Bacon who ran the route for four months will focus on the business end of the Gazette.
