Injunction Fails to Stop Union Pacific Depot Bond Use

A Omaha city petition led to a temporary injunction against $150,000 in bonds for a Union Pacific depot project. The court ordered the Union Pacific to allow access for other roads. An attempted fast train on the St Paul line was halted after track damage and engine blockades. The hearing was set for January 5.

Telegram from Chadron reports 25 cavalry dead and 34 wounded. Rushville dispatch notes a blizzard near the agency with battles nearby. Sole survivor told of Potter wreck tragedy off Barnegat

Pawanemuta December 30 report: Lampson brought in Charles Wallenberger as the sole survivor of the Potter crew after a Sunday capsize in a furious Barnegat storm. Five men drowned immediately. Wallenberger and Captain Evans survived ten hours on wreckage but Evans died within thirty minutes. Wallenberger, though severely exposed, is expected to recover. Additional notes mention a San Francisco bureau update and frigid conditions in Nevada and Arizona.
