Mysterious Woodchopper Surrenders After Capay Killing

A Capay Canyon rancher billowed by a Woodchopper named Bill surrendered to Conetable Moore claiming he killed a man. He alleges Owen Mc Laughlin attacked him with a blunt instrument before Bill found Mc Laughlin dead with three knife wounds. Sheriff Wyckoff and District Attorney Head traveled from Woodland to investigate.

Freemasons Install Officers At Reno Lodge Ball

Reno Lodge No 13 F and A M held an officers installation at Sierra Street and Commercial Row with P M L L Crocker installing the Blue Lodge officers assisted by Grand Marshal W L Bechtel. Names include Robert Lewers and 4 D Bird, John Horn, Hymere, Jamison, Cohn, Clough, McCormack, Williams, Jamison, Phillips and J E. Phillips. The R A M chapter planned to install later due to lateness. Sisters of the Eastern Star served a collation after the ceremony. Two men charged with vagrancy asked to plead guilty and leave town, and were discharged. A Democratic badge joke concluded the item.
