Inauguration clashes amid militiamen and Kolbite forces
From Montgomery dispatch the streets rang with drums and bayonets as militia guarded Governor elect Gates's inauguration. Kolb followers gathered outside the State House and were met by firm orders to keep order while Kolb asserted his claim. The scene included a parade of militia, a column of artillery, and speeches denouncing the ouster, with tensions between rival factions running high.
