In Fairfield-Suisun California a crippled B-29 crashed after takeoff for a long training flight. Seventeen men died and sixty or more were injured as the plane exploded following a fuel and bomb detonation. Brig Gen Robert F Travis, base commander, was among the dead.

United Nations may meet on 24-hour notice in emergencies

China Reds Fire On British Ship Hangsang Near Hong Kong
