Reports say Albert Dose and others escaped capture in California. Authorities pursue along the Reno line with sightings near Burn, Weiner, and Dogtown. Convicts Howard, Miller, Fahey may be headed toward Sacramento as officers chase leads.
Henry P Lowe chief engineer of United States Bread Corp completes Los Angeles bound trip from Chicago to Los Angeles in about two hundred sixty miles with 2154 miles at record pace. The run was to reach bedside of dying daughter. The Santa Fe line provided the fast route. The California Limited and Peacock specials were both shown making pace.
Bigmark, August 7. The Supreme Court has voided 760,000 in bonds approved by the late Legislature for state educational and charitable institutions. The bonds rested on a mandate and were to fund building projects. The court refused mandamus to compel the treasurer to release funds and ruled against the institutions.
At Durand Michigan a circus train rear end collision kills twenty three and injuries many.
