In 1907 in Lincoln County Colorado a pioneer woman and her child endured early farming hardships on virgin soil. The family later returned to Remsen, where Mrs. Lloyd and her daughter Edith became deputy and assistant in the Remsen post office in 1914 under postmaster E F Kieffer. In 1923 she was named postmistress, first woman in Remsen to hold the job, relinquishing in 1933 due to ill health. She died in October 1935, survived by three children.
