The Romney church honors Minister Romney Hromney aged 75 of Indiana who served the West Indiana Conference from 1874. Remaining in memory, he leaves a widow and son. A funeral service was held in Romney with Rev. H aa Rev. S B Towne presiding.
Gilboa Township hosts a Farm Bureau meeting Friday evening with speaker Mr. Briggs from the State Farm Bureau office. He will discuss membership drives for LaPorte county. The Gilboa School plans several numbers and refreshments will be served. Officer elections will be held during the business session. farmers and families are invited.
Auditor reports 4 017 men and 3 010 women registered, a total rise in registrants and a record for the county. The gap shows 1 007 more men than women, with most eligible women evidently registered.
The American Horsebreeders Association aims to revive horse back riding as a wealth activity. It argues riding habits and horses were discarded for tractors but notes tractors last few years while horses can plow or travel for decades. Walter Stemple predicts saddle horses will appear on less traveled roads and urges reserved routes for horse drawn vehicles.
John P. Carr, 68, respected farmer near Chalmers, is in critical condition after a Sunday evening accident when his team frightened and ran away. He sustained rib injuries and later suffered a stroke of apoplexy, leaving recovery doubtful. Carr formerly edited the Fowler Tribune.

Vague notes report a large scale swindle where a suspect charged $175 for each jug of alleged rain water and fled. Victims later found the water to be poor quality and not the promised product, with several thousand dollars cleared.

A masquerade Halloween social is planned in the basement of the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evening October 31 under the Christian Endeavor society. All are invited to attend.
A box social fundraiser is planned at Howard School located two miles west and three miles south No 9. The event is set for Friday night November 3rd with Helen Garvin as the teacher in charge.
A program and box social will be held at the No 1 schoolhouse on Friday October 27 beginning at 8 00 o clock Etta Nichols teacher invites the community to attend for an evening of good fun.

On Monday October 30 Blake No 2 hosts a Hallowe en box supper with fish pond side shows candy and pea nuts. Gertrude Kelly teacher invites all for an evening of community fun three miles north and one mile west of Remington.
Burglars entered the Reynolds post office Monday night, cracked the safe and fled with about 150 dollars in cash. Three checks were found in the north part of town. The burglary was discovered when the office opened in the morning. Postmistress Miss Geier notified the sheriff who investigated but found no clues.
Autumn day social at Mrs Jones’s country house near Fortnightlies hall marked by a pleasant gathering. About twenty educators answered roll call for a program titled Colleges of Tindiana presented by Mrs Hartman. Music, song, and fine needlework followed a light social hour, with guests praising the day as educating and delightful.
Peter Gagnon of Earl Park has been arrested twice and acquitted twice for desecrating the Sabbath while continuing regular Sunday night movie theater shows. Church leaders fail to halt the screenings as the jury rules the conduct permissible.
Edsel K. Ford announces a $50 reduction per car effective October 17, citing higher demand and ownership of raw materials. Production exceeds a million for 1922, with over 5,000 vehicles daily, lowering touring car to 298 and other models accordingly. Remington Sales Co.
