Dorcas Club Hosts Bridal Shower for Mrs. Myrtle Dowell

The Dorcas Club held a bridal shower for Mrs. Myrtle Dowell at Mrs. Elda Merritt’s home on a Wednesday afternoon in February. The house featured green and white Club colors. Guests enjoyed unique entertainment and a variety of dainty gifts, followed by refreshments served by the hostess.

Bounty on Hawks Proposed to Curb Local Hawks

A U S Navy sailor on a return voyage from a second Philippine trip to Honolulu and then to San Francisco. He said the ship was expected to reach San Francisco on the 12th, completing his journey home.

Fur Season Ends Today in Indiana

The fur trapping season closes Friday February 10 across Indiana. Trappers should dispose of furs this week to avoid possible legal penalties for illegal trapping. The season has been profitable statewide with estimates of 500 muskrat 500 mink and over 4000 skunk hides marketed. Capes and Grang Cul ye advertise orders.

Tenth District Legion Meeting at Monticello

Col Hanford MacNider national commander and Claude Gregg state commander will headline the Tenth District American Legion meeting in Monticello on February 15. About 500 ex service men expected, banquet at 6:30 with several leaders speaking, plus an Americanization Day program and Buddieshop entertainment. Thornton Williams Post leads the event. Cope Hanley is district chairman.
