Last day for fall voter registration nears in West Virginia
West Virginians have a final chance to register before the November 3 general election as county clerks extend hours. Raleigh County's Betty Riffe said offices stay open 8 30 a m to 8 p m Friday and Monday, with Saturday hours 9 a m to 5 p m. Registration by mail must be postmarked by October 5 and requires ID and proof of age.

Clinics to offer flu and pneumonia vaccines in Beckley
Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department announces influenza immunization clinics for seniors 65 and older and those with chronic illnesses, running 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. A pneumococcal vaccine will also be offered. High risk groups include elderly, nursing home residents, chronic heart or lung disease, diabetes, renal dysfunction, asthmatics, and pregnant women in later trimesters. The vaccine aims to reduce influenza impact and immunity wanes after a year.
