Alternate power line route would be shorter and cheaper
AEP spokesman Todd Burns said an alternate route from Wyoming County to Jacksons Ferry Va would be about 82 to 100 miles and cost 200 to 250 million dollars, versus 132 miles and 263 million for the Cloverdale route. The SCC staff says Jacksons Ferry would provide 90 percent capacity with less environmental impact while delaying completion to 2003 or 2004.
