Swissair Crash Divers Find Crucial Flight Data Recorder
Divers in murky 190 foot seas near Halifax recovered one flight data recorder from Swissair Flight 111 along with three large wreckage pieces believed to be the fuselage. Investigators plan Ottawa lab analysis to extract over 100 technical data types and explain cockpit smoke and control tower contact loss. Searchers also report 19 human remains concentrations on the seabed as they seek the second black box and cockpit voice recorder.
