Microsoft seeks Netscape emails in antitrust case
Microsoft demanded about 4000 internal Netscape emails from the past two months as part of its antitrust fight with the government. Netscape and its lawyers began reviewing the messages on Monday, hoping to uncover comments about its executives or products or perhaps inflammatory posts about Microsoft. The emails were posted to private forums and a personal web site, with Netscape employees joking about cafeteria food and dog policy. Netscape cautioned about document retention and said it would respond appropriately. The states suing Microsoft include California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
