Man indicted in Bradshaw police chief slaying
McDowell County jurors indict Charlie Vance on first degree murder obstruction of an officer and unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon in the fatal shooting of Bradshaw police chief Chloe Frankie Stanton. Vance, 61, of Paynesville, remains jailed on 300000 dollars bond. Stanton died after being shot in Bradshaw following an incident on August 27. No trial date set.

McDowell County suspect indicted in slayings
McDowell County grand jury indicted Stanford Allen, 48, of Maybeury on three counts of first degree murder and two burglary charges for the February slayings of David and Jeanette Henderson and Martha E. Barber all of Switchback. He remains jailed on a 750000 bond. In a separate incident a welding torch at Flexsys Ameri ca sparked a fire near an outdoor tank, prompting highway closures and indoor safety precautions for workers and residents in Nitro. One contract worker was treated for smoke inhalation.
