West Virginia offers prepaid college plan to boost tuition aid
Gov Underwood and Perdue announced a prepaid college plan in Charleston Morgantown and Shepherdstown aimed at expanding higher education access. The plan charges annual or lump sum payments with a $1500 annual tax deduction, covers in state tuition and fees at public colleges, and pays toward private or out of state costs up to public West Virginia rates with transferable benefits. If unused, refunds are available and room and board may apply in state. Enrollment runs through December 31 with administration by the treasurer's office under the Prepaid Tuition Trust Fund Board.
