Welcome Center marks Tourism Week in West Virginia
At the I-64 West Welcome Center in White Sulphur Springs, staffers and visitors celebrated Tourism Week with red white and blue decorations and free refreshments. Gov. Cecil Underwood proclaimed May 39 as Tourism Week. the center reports 483,709 visitors last year and 98,000 already in 1998. Travelers from Orlando and Danville praised the center’s cleanliness, hospitality, and trails, noting its proximity to the Virginia line and nearby attractions New River Gorge and Cass.
