Rwanda denies conflict with U.N as rights mission suspended
Rwanda says it is not in conflict with the United Nations and will work to resume the U.N. human rights mission after suspending it amid protests during Kofi Annan’s visit. Government expelled the mission’s spokesman Jose Luis Herrero, citing criticism of genocide executions. Mary Robinson earlier expanded the mandate, while leaders boycotted Annan’s honor reception.
