Migratory Bird Day Count Tracks Virginia West Flyway
International Migratory Bird Day highlights a regional count spanning southern West Virginia and southern Virginia. State coordinator Paul Shaw notes the need for multiple years of data to establish baselines as observers in cars and at feeders tally hundreds of species wintering in Mexico or Central America and migrating through the area. Local events include Century Day Count at Pipestein State Park and Spring Birding Weekend at Watoga State Park with Shaw reachable at 574 9010.
